![]() ![]() Career mode features three competition types: Race, Drift, and Gymkhana. The different game modes are pretty standard for these types of racing games – while you’ll spend most of your time in Career mode, there are also arcade and quick race modes to play with. Instead of trying to drive perfectly, though, you’ll find yourself deliberately slipping and sliding around to avoid the other competitors. For those of you who haven’t come across either of the previous entries in this series, Reckless Racing is a top-down racing game that takes place across a variety of terrains. With brand-new tracks, vehicles, and an all-new Gymkhana mode, there’s loads to get stuck into. ![]() Reckless Racing is back – and the third installment sure is mammoth. Reckless Racing 3 might not add that much more to the template the series has lived by, but it's a polished and preened little beast, and it's well worth a look if you've got petrol in your veins.Forget mirror, signal, maneuver – drive recklessly instead It just about gets the balance between precision and insanity right, there are multiple, moveable control schemes, and you can crash a truck into a beach buggy. Still there's a huge lump of game here, and when it gets things right you can't help but grin from ear to ear. It's in the rough and tumble of the chasing pack that Reckless Racing 3 really finds its feet, and when you're away from that the little frustrations become that much more obvious. Sometimes the scenery can obscure your vision, and early on if you make a decent start you might end up spending the entire race on your own. There's a decent variety to the raceways, from crumbling castle walls to the leaking ruins of a nuclear power plant, there's enough here to keep you interested. From crates and barrels to barrier-free drops into the ocean, and they pose as much of a threat to your progress as your opponents.Īt the same time there's something deeply satisfying about drifting around a corner, nudging a rival as you overtake them, and sending them spinning into a brief watery grave. The first few in your career are reasonably simple to win, but after that the game levels the playing field and things get much more interesting. The actual races are the real star of the show though. It's sort of like practice for career mode, but it's still pretty entertaining. There's Hot-Lap as well, which sees you tearing around a track trying to set the best time. You're donuting around barrels, smashing through piles of boxes, and trying not to clip any cones. Gymkhana sees you tackling a pre-set track of obstacles in a Ken Block-style race against the clock. You earn points for sliding around corners, and chaining together drifts earns you even more. There are Drift and Gymkhana events to tackle as well, and you'll need separate cars for each of the disciplines.ĭrift is essentially about spending as much time as you can sideways. You start off with a bog-standard C-class buggy, and start the hard work from there. The aim of the game is building up your garage by winning races and tournaments. It might lack some of the energetic urgency of the original game, but this is still a dramatic and worthy new addition to the series. A vaguely Skidmarks-inspired, almost top-down racer that sees you hurtling through dirt tracks and concrete roads as fast as you possibly can.īut it's more of the same done well, and it adds enough new ideas and modes that newcomers and veterans alike will find something to sink their teeth into. Every tap or tilt of the device feels solid and dependable, and the shiny graphics and neat UI make everything easy to process. Reckless Racing 3 is an undeniably slick production. ![]() In 1936, scientist Dmitry Sechenov developed a liquidized programmable module called the Polymer, sparking massive technological breakthroughs in the fields of energy and robotics in the USSR and freeing much of the populace from manual labor. This blog entry covers everything I submitted to get building control approval, I'm not sure if there is a similar process where you are or not: Our planning permission submission and drawings can be seen in this blog entry, that may help: Any very simple 2D drawing package would have done the job, but as I already had AutoCad I used that. The planners weren't interested at all in the internal layout, they just wanted to see how big it was, and how it fitted into the surrounding landscape. I found that for planning very little detail was needed, just plan and elevation drawings plus a site and location map. It depends how "hands on" you want to get, and also how much detail you need to provide for your local planning and building control people (not sure how it works in France!). I'm OK once I've go into the ethos of a particular package, but I suffer terribly from frustration before then. Trouble is, it's really hard seeing how software works in advance, and the learning curve to get into any of them to find out is steep. I'm nervous of the 'house-designer' type offerings, believing that with their pre-defined structures, again, I'll come unstuck designing something like a roof. I'm a little unwilling to go the whole hog with AUTOCAD, its horrendously expensive. ![]() It is also tricky finding out how to drive it: like many open-source projects, it runs ahead of its documentation leaving users scratching around YouTube tutorials looking for answers. It still leaves some things in the lap of the gods, however, leaving me feeling that half way through designing a roof I'm going to find I cannot place an origin and set planes at the strange angles I need. I'm currently looking at FreeCAD, which has a far more robust methodology of constraint. When it goes bad, there seems to be little over-riding control. What worries me is that with so many assumed constraints, while it is quick to sketch, it easily makes incorrect assumptions and gives me faces where I want solids. I've looked at SketchUp and it appears to be less than robust. This is all generic, it will apply to any project. I need to conceptualise a design, I need to be able to present the concepts, I need to subsequently detail the design and then create planning drawings, detail drawings and BOM from the design.įirst question: Can one bit of software do all these jobs, or is it best to split the tasks? Pacman is much faster than apt, but I always worry that it's because pacman is just deleting the old package, and unzipping the archive, while debian packages are more transactional, and take a lot more (possibly unnecessary) steps to make sure that everything is being done properly. So it's easier to find pre-made binary drivers on arch. It also includes changes that potentially break backwards compatibility with older versions. It is where packages are uploaded and tested before making their way to the stable build of the respective builds of Debian. In one of my favorite instances you are asked to burn a CD for a robot hoping to propose, to do so you’re told to toss the CD in the toaster, after which it magically comes out ready for the boombox. The game remains humorous throughout, with the robots mocking our way of life continuously and generally having no idea how we completed tasks or what the tasks assigned to us even meant. It’s all great fun, even if it does wear thin after a half hour or so in each scenario. You can throw items at employees, break things, drink and eat everything around you, and generally be a menace. Most tasks allow you to get creative with how you accomplish them, and between tasks you can do whatever you’d like. A helpful robot will introduce you to the world and provide any instructions necessary, while a screen in the background will tell you the next step to take to help your current customer. Still, Job Simulator remains a fantastic way to learn the VR ropes while also providing a sandbox where you can wreak havoc with no repercussions.
